On the nature of low-frequency internal friction near the ferroelastic phase transition in Ba2NaNb5O15

Abstract

A correlation between the behaviour of the anelastic properties and the evolution of the misfit parameter in incommensurate barium sodium niobate was found. The internal friction peak was observed near the 1-q → 2-q transition within the incommensurate phase, accompanied by a drastic change of the ferroelastic domain structure.
