Summary
A review is given of the hazards to health in the production of printed circuits. Printed circuit production uses the products of the chemical industry to which it applies the techniques of the printing and the metal etching industries. Potential hazards are present in the nature of the original materials, the printing techniques and etching processes. Particular attention is drawn to the hazards of ‘chromic acid,’ hydrofluoric acid, trichloroethylene, form-dimethylamide and methylene chloride. The need to keep up-to-date with developments in printed circuits in order to protect workers from possible toxic effects of the materials used is stressed.
