Summary
The outdoor exposure performance of chromium electrodeposited from a trivalent electrolyte is desscribed. Variation in nickel thickness is correlated with acceptable outdoor life in both mobile and static tests. Comparison of results for the new chromium system and for chromium deposited from hexavalent chromium electrolytes shows that the performance of the trivalent chromium is similar to that of conventional micro-discontinuous systems and superior to that of regular chromium deposited over the same nickel thickness.
