A Review of Some Defects Appearing on Anodized Aluminium

Summary

The paper describes the more common defects appearing on anodized aluminium. Defects associated with bright anodizing and architectural anodizing practices are listed, their characteristics described and, where possible, the causes and remedies are indicated. Charts have been drawn up indicating the origin of the defect and the stage in the process where the defect is first visible.
