ABSTRACT
This paper, presented at the Interfinish 2020 conference held virtually on 6–8 September 2021, examines the history of anti-corrosive primers used in the construction of both commercial and military airplanes; how the formulations of the primers have changed, initially to improve technical performance, but then to meet the requirements of environmental and legislative issues introduced throughout the world. In addition, there is a brief review of sacrificial coatings used within the engines, and the impact of environmental and legislative changes.
