The Use of Covert Conditioning in Hypnotherapy'

Abstract

Covert conditioning invalves the manipulation of imagery to modify behaviors such as phobias, alcohalirrm, overeating, and Bexus1 deviations. A rationale and description of covert conditioning procedures are described. Covert conditioning and hypnotic induction procedutes employing imagery are compared. The advmtagea and disadvanw of combining covert conditioning and hypnosis are discussed. It is concluded that some of the he issue raised in this paper can only be resolved by controlled research.
