The content and mode of presentation of the hypnosis session varied among the first 3 groups. At 6 montiis posttreatment, die live-hypnosis plus counseling group contained significantly more abstainers than die other 3 groups. The importance of the specific content of the hypnosis session and die presence of the hypnotherapist for die effectiveness of the procedure is discussed.
