The term original refers to first submissions, and therefore submissions of revised papers are not counted in the table above.
One hundred and nineteen papers originally submitted in 2011 are still awaiting a first decision (as of 1st March 2012).
IJCM screens papers for originality using the CrossCheck™ software.
Review process and acceptance rate
All papers received are subject to an initial review by the Editor-in-Chief assigned. This initial review is crucial in allowing us to handle the volume of submissions received and ensures a quick decision for the author(s), enabling them to submit their work elsewhere should it not be appropriate for IJCM. Papers are then assigned to an Associate Editor (who will be a member of the Editorial Board) for further review. The Associate Editor may recommend that the paper be rejected, or select independent referees to assess the paper further.
For 2011, the median time from original submission to a first decision for all papers was 36 days. For papers assigned to an Editor for further review, the median time to a first decision was 71 days.

The acceptance rate in 2011 was 17%. For papers accepted in 2011, the median time from original submission to acceptance (including time with the author for revision) was 210 days.
