Review process and acceptance rate

All papers received are subject to initial appraisal by the Editor-in-Chief assigned. This initial review is crucial in allowing us to handle the volume of submissions received and ensures a quick decision for the author(s), enabling them to submit their work elsewhere should it not be appropriate for IJCM. Papers are then assigned to an Associate Editor (who will be a member of the Editorial Board) for further review. The Associate Editor may recommend a final decision, or select independent referees to assess the paper further. The Editors-in-Chief stress a very high quality level for acceptance of an article in IJCM, as shown in Table 2. Two very positive reports, indicating a significant degree of novelty and academic insight, are required for acceptance of a paper to be considered.

For 2014 and 2015(Jan–August), the median times from original submission to a first decision for all papers were 27 and 18 days respectively. For papers assigned to an Editor for further review, the median times to a first decision was 65 days for papers submitted in 2014 and 56 days for papers submitted in 2015(Jan–August).

The acceptance rate in 2014 was 17%; in 2015 (up to 31^st August), the acceptance rate is 12%. For papers accepted in 2014 and 2015(Jan–August), the median times from original submission to acceptance (including time with the author for review) were 192 and 127 days respectively.
