The Editors-in-Chief and the Publisher of International Journal of Computer Mathematics (IJCM) are delighted to announce exciting new changes in the publication of the Journal.

The Journal – publishing two sections: Section A on Computer Systems Theory and Section B on Computational Mathematics – has seen enormous success over recent years, with rising submissions, and increasingly high quality papers. Built on this success, IJCM will, as of Volume 93 (2016), publish solely papers relating to Computational Mathematics (previously Section B); papers relating to the theory of computing and computer systems should now be directed to our new sister Journal: International Journal of Computer Mathematics: Computer Systems Theory (http://www.tandfonline.com/tcom)

In this Editorial, we describe the new vision for IJCM in terms of Aims & Scope, along with the peer-review process.

Aims & Scope for International Journal of Computer Mathematics

International Journal of Computer Mathematics aims to publish original research papers of high scientific value in fields of computational mathematics with profound applications to sciences and engineering. Its readership is broad and encompasses all research communities in numerical analysis and scientific computing.

Papers that study analysis and applications of innovative computational strategies are sought. Papers with rigorous explorations of cutting-edge techniques and concerns in computational mathematics are welcome. Topics considered include, but are not limited to, the latest issues in the numerical solution of systems or of multi-dimensional partial differential equations, nonlocal modelling and computations, multi-scale modelling, quantum computing, imaging configurations, stochastic differential systems and uncertainty quantification, highly vibrant and robust algorithms, and applications in modern industries, including but not limited to finance and biomedicine.

Papers discussing only variations or combinations of existing methods without significant new computational properties or analysis are not of interest to IJCM.

Peer-Review

IJCM will continue to perform a high quality and rigorous peer-review on all manuscripts submitted. Papers more suited to the new sister Journal, International Journal of Computer Mathematics: Computer Systems Theory, will be directed there. More information on submissions can be found here:

http://www.tandfonline.com/action/authorSubmission?journalCode=gcom20&page=instructions#.VhzRgy5VhBc

After initial appraisal by the Editors-in-Chief of the Journal, suitable manuscripts will be subject to rigorous, comprehensive peer-review. Only submissions that demonstrate high novelty and receive very positive endorsements from reviewers will be accepted for publication.

Submissions derived from conference proceedings must contain at least 40% new material.

We strive to provide a prompt but comprehensive review process.

Thanks to the Reviewers and Editorial Board

The success of the Journal relies heavily on the commitment and expertise of our Editorial Board and reviewers – we would like to extend our thanks to Associate Editors, Editorial Board Members and reviewers who have made the Journal a success.

We look forward to receiving your submissions!
