Pure alternating block explicit-implicit method for the diffusion equation in two space dimensions

Abstract

The authors consider a special class of Block Hopscotch Algorithms for solving the diffusion equations in two space dimensions. Meticulous convergence analyses are given and a satisfactory higher order accuracy is obtained. The numerical results obtained by this algorithm for several different block splitting are included and are in good agreement with the exact solution.
