ABSTRACT

This paper proposes a new cascaded switched-capacitor (SC) multilevel inverter (MLI). This inverter uses a suitable process to charge/discharge the capacitors to keep them balanced. Also, in the proposed MLI, fewer power electronic elements are required, and the value of the blocked voltage on switches also decreased. Six methods are proposed to determine the magnitude of the dc power supplies. These methods are compared to each other. A 17-level inverter is experimented to show the performance of the proposed topology
