ABSTRACT

This study proposes an improved power quality-based modified bridgeless canonical switching cell (MBLCSC) converter for AC-DC applications. This proposed topology eliminates the use of diode bridge rectifier with reduced components. The modified converter is operated on discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) promoting the circuit with less control complexity. Besides, a single voltage sensor is utilised to ensure the operation of the conveter in DCM and effectively reduces the unwanted harmonics at the source side as per the IEC power quality standards. In addition, the steady state analysis of the proposed converter is presented in this article. Finally, the exploratory performance of the proposed converter is validated through Matlab/Simulink and experimental results are furnished with a hardware prototype of 100 W, 48 V.
