Abstract
A very simple expression for the effective relative dielectric constant is presented for an electrically-thick circular microstrip antenna. The theoretical resonant frequency results obtained by using this new expression are in good agreement with the experimental results available in the literature. The expression proposed can also be used in the calculation of the resonant frequency of a circular microstrip antenna with an air gap.
