Abstract

Because of increasing pressure on existing water supplies, non‐conventional sources must be considered. One such is fog water collection. This paper presents a detailed coverage of the theory behind, and the application of, fog water collection technology in different parts of the world. Fog collection trials and large‐scale projects in South America, Africa and Middle East are discussed, with reference to the features of the study sites, collector materials and design, and collection data. Projects conducted in the Sultanate of Oman show that fog collection has the potential to reduce dependence on groundwater and improve the quality of life in some areas.
