ABSTRACT
Both the gas phase and solid phase environmental pollution produce double problems. The first is to reduce the current pollutants and the second is to stop producing further pollutants. The first is the simpler because existing technologies are satisfactory although expensive. The second problem is more involved because new technologies need to be developed. Such developments are not only expensive, but require decades of major scientific and engineering efforts. This paper focuses only on the second, the more difficult problem.
