Abstract

This paper presents the results of an empirical study of the role of the Canadian mass media in collecting, transforming and communicating environmental information from 1960 to 1972, and the effects of mass communication on public attitudes and behaviour. The results of this study taken in conjunction with previous results reported in the mass communication and public opinion literature are then used to model the interractive response of the mass media and the general public to environmental issues
