Transference and Regression in and Beyond Analytic Group Psychotherapy: Revisiting Some Timeless Thoughts

Pages 201-210 | Published online: 16 Oct 2015

ABSTRACT

In this article the author reconsiders the ideas of Durkin and Glatzer (1973/1997) on the process of transference and the function of regression in dyadic and group treatment in light of developments in contemporary analytic theory and practice. Transference is reexamined theoretically as a function of internal psychological processes. Transference and regression are also considered in relation to the nature and treatment of character pathology.
