Errors in regression lines

Pages 449-456 | Received 09 Jul 2002, Published online: 06 Aug 2010

Abstract

This note provides a scheme that can overcome difficulties in calculating statistical quantities using certain formulae because of errors in the means. Specifically the diversions and discrepancies arising from the results obtained from three groups of widely used formulae for computing the estimated regression coefficients, the gradient b and the intercept constant b 0, are investigated. A specific lemma is put forward.
