How should the mathematical training of an engineering undergraduate be conducted?

Pages 163-171 | Published online: 09 Jul 2006

Abstract

Currently developments in computer technology are such that the engineer is being called upon to tackle increasingly complex systems. The consequences of this on the engineering curriculum are discussed and the growing importance of mathematical modelling are highlighted. Problems associated with the teaching of mathematical modelling are presented and methods of implementing them within the engineering curriculum are proposed.
