Abstract

This study examines the antecedents and consequences of supply chain activities and empirically tests many of the assumptions in the extant buyer–supplier relationship literature. To analyse the validity of the research model and the hypotheses, data was gathered from 271 manufacturing organisations in South Korea through the administration of structured questionnaires. The results suggest that trust, interdependency, and rate of technological change are major factors that influence the level of operational and strategic information sharing and collaboration, and that the higher the degree of strategic information sharing and collaboration is, the greater the level of effectiveness becomes. However, there is no significant relationship between the length of relationship and information sharing and collaboration. Research and practical implications of these findings are discussed.
