1 Bleger’s text was initially published in the IJP as “Psycho-analysis of the psycho-analytic frame” (1967) and was then published as Chapter 6 in Symbiosis and ambiguity (Bleger 2013) with the title “Psychoanalysis of the psychoanalytic setting”.

2 For example, a woman’s right to divorce or the presence or absence of the right to abortion are social referents that affect analytic work.

3 The Spanish terms vínculo and vincular are often translated into English as “bond” and “binding” or “link” and “linking”, yet many authors have found this translation inadequate and opt to keep the Spanish term, which better captures the notion of complex relationality.
