ABSTRACT
In this paper, I am concerned with the question of relationship between internal personality integration and external integration in the community within the context of voluntary migration. Migration always includes a loss of all that one has left behind. Both internal and external integration in the new community thus involve a mourning process that involves a working through of depressive position anxieties. Only then can the migrant turn towards the new object, the new community and initiate a process of integration. This process is particularly difficult for patients with an entrenched system of narcissistic defences, in which they have turned away from the helpful object, also the helpful object of the community around them and the helpful object of the analyst. These are often patients who have used the migration as a kind of psychic retreat. The difficult process of integration is illustrated in this paper with the treatment of Mr B.

L'auteure de cet article traite de la question de la relation entre l'intégration de la personnalité interne et l'intégration externe au sein d'une communauté dans le cadre de l'émigration volontaire. L'émigration entraîne toujours une perte de de tout ce que l'on a laissé derrière soi. L'intégration à la fois interne et externe au sein de la nouvelle communauté induit un processus de deuil qui suppose une perlaboration des angoisses de la position dépressive. Ce n'est qu'alors que le migrant peut se tourner vers un nouvel objet, une nouvelle communauté, et initier un processus d'intégration. Ce processus s'avère particulièrement difficile chez des patients dont les défenses narcissiques alimentent un système bien enraciné, dans lequel ils ont tourné le dos à l'objet secourable, de même qu'à l'objet secourable de la communauté qui les entoure et l'objet secourable que constitue l'analyste. Il s'agit souvent de patients qui ont utilisé l'émigration comme une sorte de retraite psychique. L'auteure illustre ce processus complexe d'intégration par le traitement de M. B.
In diesem Beitrag befasse ich mich mit der Frage der Beziehung zwischen der inneren Persönlichkeitsintegration und der äußeren Integration in der Gemeinschaft im Kontext freiwilliger Migration. Zur Migration gehört immer ein Verlust all dessen, was man zurücklässt. Somit gehört sowohl zur inneren als auch zur äußeren Integration in die neue Gemeinschaft ein Prozess des Trauerns, zu dem das Durcharbeiten von Ängsten der depressiven Position gehört. Nur dann kann sich Migrant dem neuen Objekt, der neuen Gemeinschaft zuwenden und einen Integrationsprozess einleiten. Besonders schwierig ist dieser Prozess für Patienten mit einem fest verwurzelten System narzisstischer Abwehrmechanismen, in dem sie sich von dem hilfreichen Objekt, also auch dem Objekt der sie umgebenden Gemeinschaft und dem hilfreichen Objekt des Analytikers abgewandt haben. Diese Patienten haben die Migration häufig als eine Art psychischen Rückzug genutzt. Der schwierige Prozess der Integration wird in diesem Beitrag anhand der Behandlung von Herrn B. veranschaulicht.
In questo lavoro mi occuperò della relazione che esiste tra l'integrazione (interna) della personalità e l'integrazione (esterna) nella comunità in contesti di migrazione volontaria. La migrazione comporta sempre la perdita di tutto ciò che uno ha lasciato alle spalle. Per questo motivo l'integrazione (interna ed esterna) nella nuova comunità implica un processo di lutto, per compiere il quale è necessaria l'elaborazione delle angosce della posizione depressiva. Solo dopo aver svolto questa operazione il migrante potrà rivolgersi al nuovo oggetto - alla nuova comunità, cioè - e iniziare un processo di integrazione. Questo processo risulta particolarmente difficile per quei pazienti trincerati in un sistema di difese narcisistiche che li ha portati a rifiutare l'oggetto soccorrevole: sia esso l'oggetto soccorrevole della comunità che sta loro intorno, o anche la persona dell'analista. Si tratta di pazienti che spesso hanno utilizzato la loro esperienza di migrazione come un rifugio della mente. Il difficile processo di integrazione è qui illustrato con la presentazione del trattamento di Mr B.
En este artículo, la autora aborda la relación entre la integración de la personalidad interna y la integración externa en la comunidad en el contexto de la migración voluntaria. La migración siempre incluye una pérdida de todo lo que uno ha dejado atrás. Por ello, tanto la integración interna como la externa en la nueva comunidad conllevan un proceso de duelo que implica la elaboración de las angustias de la posición depresiva. Solo entonces el migrante puede volverse hacia el nuevo objeto, la nueva comunidad, e iniciar un proceso de integración. Este proceso es particularmente difícil para los pacientes con un sistema afianzado de defensas narcisistas, en el que se han apartado del objeto provechoso, así como del objeto provechoso de la comunidad que los rodea y del objeto provechoso del analista. Se trata de pacientes que a menudo han usado la migración como una suerte de retiro psíquico. El tratamiento del señor B ilustra el difícil proceso de integración.
