The institution, mental disability and the psychoanalyst: Prospects presented by a revival of intersubjective receptivity in groups

ABSTRACT

This presentation aims at giving an account of a novel group project, conducted with adults with mental and/or psychic disabilities. The evolution of post-war psychiatry in France is marked by several important changes. The development of psychotherapy in institutions asserts the role of psychoanalysis in the institutional sphere. We then will describe the environmental contexts for the reception and support of the mentally disabled subject as it currently exists in France, highlighting their effects on psychic disability. This novel project takes place in a medico-social institution, a residential home in which live eight adults with disabilities, women and men, aged 19 to 55, and at a particular moment in institutional history. Sustained by several mediations, it is first through the support of a jigsaw puzzle project that the experience is initiated. Then a writing workshop will be organised, whereby residues of proceedings will find a form in which to be recorded. The objective will be the implementation of intersubjective space, despite the impediment identified at the level of individual subjective psyches. The effectiveness of the methods used can be detected in the intersubjective connections, allowing the renewal of symbolization and creativity.

L’institution, la déficience mentale, et le psychanalyste. Potentialités offertes par la relance d’une écoute intersubjective. Ce travail propose de rendre compte d’une expérience originale groupale, menée avec des adultes souffrant de handicap mental et/ou psychique. L’évolution de la psychiatrie après guerre en France, est marquée par plusieurs changements importants. Le mouvement de psychothérapie institutionnelle affirme le rôle de la psychanalyse dans le champ institutionnel. Nous préciserons ensuite le contexte des conditions de l’accueil et de l’accompagnement du sujet déficient mental tel qu’il existe actuellement en France, en soulignant les conséquences pour la psyché de la déficience mentale. Cette expérience originale, a lieu dans une institution médico-sociale. Elle se déroule à l’appui de plusieurs médiations, dans une résidence où vivent huit personnes adultes handicapés, femmes et hommes, âgés de 19 à 55 ans, dans un moment particulier de l’histoire institutionnelle. C’est d’abord grâce au support d’un puzzle que l’expérience s’initie. Ensuite sera mis en place un atelier écriture. La trace de cette trame pourra ainsi trouver une forme d’inscription. La visée sera le déploiement de cet espace intersubjectif, en dépit des barrages repérés au niveau des psychés individuelles. La vertu du maniement des médias est repérable du coté de ces tissages, permettant de restaurer la symbolisation et la créativité qui en découle.

Institution, geistige Behinderung und Psychoanalytiker: Perspektiven durch Wiederbelebung intersubjektiver Rezeptivität in Gruppen. Ziel dieser Präsentation ist die Schilderung eines neuartigen Gruppenprojekts, das mit Erwachsenen mit geistiger Behinderung und/oder psychischen Störungen durchgeführt wurde. Mehrere wesentliche Veränderungen kennzeichnen die Entwicklungsgeschichte der Psychiatrie der Nachkriegszeit in Frankreich. Die Entwicklung der Psychoanalyse in Institutionen bestärkt die Rolle der Psychoanalyse im institutionellen Wirkungskreis. Im Anschluss beschreiben wir die Rahmenbedingungen für die aktuelle Wahrnehmung und Unterstützung geistig behinderter Personen in Frankreich und beleuchten deren Auswirkungen auf die psychische Behinderung. Dieses neuartige Projekt wird in einer sozialmedizinisch betreuten Einrichtung durchgeführt, in der acht erwachsene Frauen und Männer im Alter von 19 bis 55 Jahren mit ihren jeweiligen Behinderungen wohnen, und es findet zu einem besonderen Zeitpunkt in der institutionellen Geschichte statt. Die Gruppenerfahrung wird mithilfe eines Puzzleprojekts eingeleitet und von mehreren Mediationen getragen. Anschließend wird eine Schreibwerkstatt organisiert, wodurch Bleibendes aus den Geschehnissen eine Form findet, durch die es festgehalten werden kann. Ziel ist die Schaffung eines intersubjektiven Raums trotz des Hindernisses, das auf der Ebene individueller subjektiver Psychen feststellbar ist. Die Wirksamkeit der Methoden lässt sich in den intersubjektiven Verbindungen beobachten und ermöglicht eine Wiederherstellung von Symbolisierung und Kreativität.

L'istituzione, la disabilità psichica e lo psicoanalista. Possibilità offerte dal rilancio di un ascolto intersoggettivo nei gruppi. Il presente lavoro si propone di descrivere un nuovo tipo di esperienza gruppale condotta con adulti portatori di handicap mentale e/o psichico. L'evoluzione della psichiatria in Francia nel dopoguerra è contraddistinta da una serie di importanti cambiamenti. Il movimento della psicoterapia istituzionale afferma il ruolo della psicoanalisi nella sfera delle istituzioni. Descriveremo qui l'insieme di condizioni che attualmente caratterizzano le attività di accoglienza e supporto di soggetti mentalmente disabili in Francia, sottolineando le conseguenze che la disabilità mentale ha per la vita psichica. Il progetto innovativo presentato in queste pagine si è svolto, con il sostegno di diverse mediazioni, un'istituzione medico-sociale - una residenza in cui vivono otto persone adulte disabili, uomini e donne di età tra i 19 e i 55 anni - in un momento particolare della sua storia. L'esperienza ha inizio in un primo momento grazie al supporto di un gioco di puzzle, mentre in seguito verrà organizzato un laboratorio di scrittura. La traccia di questa trama potrà così trovare una forma attraverso cui essere registrata. L'obiettivo del progetto consiste nel favorire il progressivo dispiegamento di uno spazio intersoggettivo nonostante le barriere riscontrate sul piano delle menti individuali. L'efficacia dei metodi impiegati può essere riscontrata nelle connessioni intersoggettive, che consentono di restaurare la capacità di simbolizzare e la creatività.

La institución, la discapacidad mental y el/la psicoanalista: perspectivas del resurgimiento de la receptividad intersubjetiva en grupos. El artículo da cuenta de un novedoso proyecto grupal, con adultos con discapacidad psíquica y/o mental. La evolución de la psiquiatría posbélica en Francia está marcada por varios cambios importantes. El desarrollo de la psicoterapia en las instituciones afirma el rol del psicoanálisis en el campo institucional. Se describe el contexto de la acogida y apoyo al sujeto mentalmente discapacitado en la Francia actual, y se hace hincapié en sus efectos sobre la discapacidad psíquica. Este novedoso proyecto se desarrolla en una institución médico-social: una residencia en la que viven ocho adultos discapacitados, hombres y mujeres, de entre 19 y 55 años de edad, en un momento particular de la historia institucional. La experiencia sostenida por varias mediaciones, se inicia con el apoyo de un proyecto de rompecabezas. Luego se organizará un taller de escritura, mediante el cual los remanentes de los procedimientos encontrarán una forma de registro. El objetivo será la implementación del espacio intersubjetivo, a pesar del impedimiento identificado en los psiques individuales. Se puede detectar la eficacia de los métodos utilizados en las conexiones intersubjetivas, lo que permite la renovación de la simbolización y la creatividad.
