General orthogonal polynomials analysis of linear optimal control systems incorporating observers

Abstract

The analysis of linear time-invariant optimal control systems incorporating observers is approached using general orthogonal polynomials. The operational matrix for the forward integration of general orthogonal polynomials is derived and used to simplify the system of equations into the successive solution of a set of algebraic equations. An illustrative example is included and a comparison is made of solutions obtained by different orthogonal polynomials.
