Designing an A-level Genetics course: II Sequencing the material and developing a strategy for teaching and assessment

Pages 133-137 | Published online: 13 Dec 2010

Abstract

This article suggests aims and objectives for a genetics course and indicates some difficulties in teaching the subject.

The maps given in the previous article are now used to sequence the teaching; difficulties that might arise when deciding on sequence are identified. Possible methods for dealing with the difficulties described are offered and the ways in which the course might be assessed are considered.

Some conclusions are drawn about problems encountered when teaching genetics and the use of concept mapping to help overcome these is suggested.
