Abstract
Since the development of recombinant DNA techniques, hundreds of articles have been published on the subject of genetic engineering. It is important that undergraduate students should have an opportunity to discuss the ethical implications of these techniques and their applications. The aim of this article is to inform the reader about some of the applications of genetic engineering and the ethical issues involved. It includes an exercise designed to stimulate undergraduate students to think about the acceptability of some of the applications of genetic engineering.
