Mechanical Properties of Linear Low‐density Polyethylene (LLDPE)/clay Nanocomposites: Estimation of Aspect Ratio and İnterfacial Strength by Composite Models

In the article “Mechanical Properties of Linear Low-density Polyethylene (LLDPE)/clay Nanocomposites: Estimation of Aspect Ratio and Interfacial Strength by Composite Models” by Ali Durmus, Ahmet Kagz, and Christopher W. Macosko, published in ( Journal of Macromolecular Science, Part B: Physcis 47(3), 2008, 608–619 ), the parameter of relative modulus “E r = E f / E p” was incorrectly imprinted as “E f E p” in equation 3, definition of the geometric factor (μ) of the Halpin-Tsai model. The geometric factor (μ) is correctly described below by defining the related parameters.

Geometric factor (μ) can be written as;

where A f refers to the aspect ratio of the filler which is defined as the ratio of lateral dimension (L) of a non-spherical filler to its thickness (h), 2nd E f and E p are the elastic moduli of filler and polymer, respectively.

The authors regret any inconvenience caused.
