Summary
The recognized species of the variegatus-group of the genus Callionymus, subgenus Calliurichthys, and their ranges are: Callionymus variegatus Temminck and Schlegel, 1850 (southern Japan, Taiwan); C. goodladi (Whitley, 1944) (western Australia); C. grossi Ogilby, 1910 (northern Australia); C. simplicicornis Valenciennes, 1837 (central Pacific, Philippines and Guam to Samoa, Tahiti, Tuamotu Archipelago, and Gambier Islands); C. pleurostictus sp. n. (Vietnam and Gulf of Thailand); C. delicatulus Smith, 1963 (western Indian Ocean to western Pacific Ocean). Each species described, figured, and compared with its allies. A key is provided for identification of the species.
