Summary
Examination of the structure of the feeding appendages of Diaptomus kenai using light microscopy showed them to be extremely similar to those of D. oregonensis and other Diaptomus species which have been studied. Their fine morphology was examined using a scanning electron microscope, and pictures are presented showing the mouth region and details of limb structure. Some pictures of D. caducus are also included which show that small differences in detail exist between the two species. The need to study the uses made of each limb in different species as well as their fine morphology is emphasised in the light of the close overall similarity in general limb structure.
