Abstract

Following the examination of Haloschizopera material from 65 sublittoral sites around Britain, Ireland and the Western Mediterranean, four similar species were found in which the two distal segments of the female antennule had become fused, producing a seven-segmented antennule. These four species are described: H. bulbifera (Sars), H. clotensis sp. nov., H. nuditerga sp. nov. and H. lionensis sp. nov. The species differ in abdominal ornamentation, furcal shape, leg setation and armature of the male second leg.
