ABSTRACT

An electrodeposited thorium target and a ThO2 sample were irradiated together with fast neutrons using the Chinese Fast Burst Reactor II. The activities of 233Pa in both samples were measured and compared to determine the mass of 232Th deposited on the target. Experimental results showed that the mass of deposited 232Th was 19.6 μg, and the uncertainty was estimated to be 1.4%.

Acknowledgments

The authors would like to thank the CFBR-II crew for the irradiation and thank Professor Jiansheng Li for his enthusiastic and helpful discussions.
