About the authors
Willis Jensen is the Global Statistics Team Leader at W. L. Gore & Associates, where he leads a team of statisticians that provides statistical support and training across the globe. He holds degrees in Statistics from Brigham Young University and a Ph.D. in Statistics from Virginia Tech. He served for 5 years as an Associate Editor of Technometrics and currently serves as the Books Reviews Editor for Journal of Quality Technology and a member of the editorial board of Quality Engineering. He is a two time winner of the Shewell award as well as a winner of both the Nelson and Bisgaard awards from ASQ. His research interests include all aspects of industrial statistics, with a focus on applications to real problems.
Douglas C. Montgomery is Regents Professor of Industrial Engineering & Statistics and is a past editor of the Journal of Quality Technology. His research interests are in industrial statistics. He is an author of 16 books and over 180 technical papers. He is a recipient of the Shewhart Medal, the Brumbaugh Award, the Hunter Award, and the Shewell Award, and the Ellis R. Ott Award. He is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association, the American Society for Quality Control, the Royal Statistical Society, the Institute of Industrial Engineers, and an Elected Member of the International Statistical Institute.
Fugee Tsung is Professor of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Decision Analytics (IEDA), Director of the Quality and Data Analytics Lab, at the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology (HKUST). He is a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE), Fellow of the American Society for Quality (ASQ), Fellow of the Americal Statistical Association (ASA), Academician of the International Academy for Quality (IAQ) and Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE). He is Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Quality Technology (JQT), and Associate Editor of Technometrics. He has authored over 100 refereed journal publications, and is the winner of the Best Paper Award for the IIE Transactions in 2003 and 2009. He received both his MSc and PhD from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and his BSc from National Taiwan University. His research interests include quality engineering and management to manufacturing and service industries, statistical process control and monitoring, industrial statistics and data analytics.
Geoff Vining is a Professor of Statistics at Virginia Tech and a past editor of the Journal of Quality Technology. He also is a past Editor-in-Chief of Quality Engineering. He is an Honorary Member of ASQ. He has received the ASQ Shewhart Medal, the ENBIS Box Medal, and the ASQ Statistics Division William G. Hunter Award. He has authored, co-authored, or co-edited five books, most of which are in multiple editions. His primary area of interest is the design and analysis of experiments to improve quality, productivity, and reliability.
