Abstract

This article analyzes an example of the persistence of pre-Hispanic religious beliefs following the start of the Jesuit evangelization campaign in Sonora. It describes the façade design element on the church at Opodepe, and the inclusion of the “flute player” theme.

Este artículo analiza un ejemplo de la persistencia de creencias prehispánicas después del inicio de la campana de evangelización de los jesuitas en Sonora. Describe el elemento de diseño en la fachada de la iglesia de Opodepe, y la inclusión del tema del flautista.
