Abstract
The pretransional behaviour of the electronic spin relaxation of a deuterated nitroxide probe dissolved in the C.B.O.O.A. is analysed in terms of fluctuations of the order parameter. The critical increase of the spin relaxation near the nematic-isotropic transition and near the nematic-smectic a transition is observed.
