Abstract
The photophysical processes occurring in the mesomorphic and isotropic phases of two thermotropic liquid crystals, an alkylcyanobiphenyl and an alkylcyanophenylcy-clohexane, have been investigated and compared to those of the alkoxycyanobiphenyls previously reported.1 Rate constants of transfer to diphenyloctatetraene have been measured for the different phases and interpreted according to Voltz's model to obtain the migration coefficients. Two types of transfer have been shown to occur in these systems.
