Polymers at Interfaces

Pages 233-252 | Published online: 20 Apr 2011

Abstract

Basics ideas on the behavior of polymer solutions near solid surfaces is given. A review of the various theories describing the distribution of monomers in the interfacial layer is developped. The various experimental techniques available to characterize the polymer distribution at the interface are described, together with a comparison of the data to the theoretical predictions. Some theoretical and experimental results on mixtures of polymers and liquid crystals, in solutions and at interfaces, are recalled.
