Felix Kraffert
Felix Kraffert obtained his bachelor degree in physics at Freie Universität Berlin in 2010. He performed his bachelor thesis work at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin in the group of Prof. M. Lux-Steiner on studies of new cathodes for organic solar cells. He continued his studies in the master program at Freie Universität Berlin and spent a semester abroad at Uppsala University. In 2013, he obtained his master degree in physics in the group of Prof. R. Bittl working on time-resolved EPR studies of low-bandgap polymers for organic photovoltaics. For his PhD he joined the group of Prof. J. Behrends to continue his work on elucidating charge separation processes in organic blends by time-resolved EPR and electrically detected magnetic resonance spectroscopy. His project is part of the DFG priority program ‘SPP1601: New Frontiers in Sensitivity for EPR Spectroscopy: From Biological Cells to Nano Materials.’
Jan Behrends
Jan Behrends studied physics at the Carl-von-Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg (degree: Physik-Diplom in 2006). Afterwards he worked on his PhD at the Hahn-Meitner-Institut Berlin (since 2009 Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin) in the group of Prof. Klaus Lips. His work focused on spin-dependent transport and recombination in different types of solar cells. After completion of the PhD in 2009, he stayed for one year as a postdoctoral researcher at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (Institut Silizium-Photovoltaik). In 2010, he took up a postdoctoral position at Freie Universität Berlin in the group of Prof. Robert Bittl. Since 2014 he is a junior professor at the Physics Department of Freie Universität Berlin and head of the junior research group ‘EPR spectroscopy in photovoltaics.’ His group focuses on improving our understanding of fundamental processes in solar cells on a microscopic level using techniques based on electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy.
