Acknowledgments

I would like to thank my colleagues Daniel Bowron and Felix Fernandez-Alonso for organising this Special Issue, and George Jackson for allowing it to happen. I am indebted to the contributors to this Special Issue for their ongoing support and encouragement, and I am eager to read the submitted papers in full. I am particularly indebted to Dusan Bratko for ensuring the paper from Alenka Luzar will be included, in spite of her untimely death earlier this year. My parents endowed me with a modicum of intelligence and imagination, a sense of humour, and good physical fitness. Most importantly they allowed me to think and pursue what I wanted to, whilst always supporting me. I am indebted to Krista for her unwavering support and kindness throughout the 41 years we have been together. My career developed the way it did only because a large number of people joined in and wanted to have a go.
