Abstract

The perturbation-variational theory of Tarazona and Navascués is extended to analyse the effect of the presence of an electric field in the interphase. Molecular orientation in the interphase of polar fluids is found at first order. Different electrostatic surface properties have been analysed, including the surface polarizability and surface susceptibility. Numerical results for carbon monoxide are presented.
