&
Pages 661-688 | Accepted 19 Aug 1972, Published online: 12 Sep 2018

SUMMARY

Six common wood-inhabiting species of Phialophora Medlar associated with “blueing” of softwoods and some hardwoods in North America are described in culture, including one new species, P. botulispora. A generic concept based on examinations of type material and living cultures is presented. This concept is compared with that adopted in previous taxonomic studies of Phialophora.
