ABSTRACT
Strains of Coprinus patouillardii were isolated from moist-chamber cultures. All those which fruited in culture were homothallic. Variability between isolates was assessed with esterase isozymes and morphometric characters. Variation was seen among dung isolates, but three isolates from banana peel had identical isozyme profiles. Hyphal fusions were very rare. Implications of homothallism for the coprophilous habit and for gene flow are discussed.
