ABSTRACT
Intercollection crosses of four Marasmius species were analyzed to assess the geographic extent of sexual compatibility and to reveal probable complexity of mating type loci. Marasmius pulcherripes, M. pyrrhocephalus and M. rotula showed universal compatibility between intracontinental conmorphospecific collections. Available intercontinental data on M. siccus suggested that infraspecific sexual barriers may be present.
