, &
Pages 328-335 | Received 24 Apr 1961, Published online: 21 Dec 2011

Summary

The oestrogenic activities of a number of varieties of white clover (Trifolium repens L.), red clover (Trifolium pratense L.), and lotus (Lotus uliginosus L.) were tested by incorporating the freeze-dried plant material in the food of ovariectomised immature mice. Oestrogenic activity was detected in all the samples of red clover but not in the white clover or lotus samples.
