Abstract

Data from three saliva samples from five high (HS) and five low (LS) susceptibility identical twin pairs are presented. Ten zones (bands) were obtained by electrophoretic separation, and relative protein proportions were obtained by scanning. Bands 2 and 6 showed differences between sampling times. Bands 1, 5, 6, 7, and 8, together with protein concentration and saliva flow rate, had significant between twin set variances indicative of congenital effects. Bands 4, 6, and 7 and saliva flow rate showed relationships with bloat susceptibility. Band 4 was higher for the HS group.
