Abstract
Vegetation data from 127 plots in Saltwater Ecological Area, south Westland, New Zealand were analysed using multivariate classification and ordination techniques. Ten communities were recognised and their spatial distribution was related to a complex of soil-relatedenvironmental variables linked to slope, surfaceage, and drainage. These, in turn, are intimatelylinked to landform.
