RETRACTED ARTICLE: How online interaction radicalises while group involvement restrains: a case study of Action Zealandia from 2019 to 2021

We, the authors, Editors and Publisher of the journal Political Science, have retracted the following article:

James Halpin & Chris Wilson (2022) How online interaction radicalises while group involvement restrains: a case study of Action Zealandia from 2019 to 2021, Political Science, 74:1, 18–33, DOI: 10.1080/00323187.2022.2101493

This article was submitted and initially published with the following ethics statement: “This research was approved by the University of Auckland Human Ethics Committee, University of Auckland, Approval number UAHPEC3163”.

After publication, the authors requested a correction to the ethics statement to reflect that they had obtained ethics approval for only the online research, and not for the offline research outlined in the article.

Following discussions with their institution, the University of Auckland, the corresponding author Chris Wilson, has requested that the article be retracted, as the research reported in this article was conducted without the required ethics approval. As this is a breach of our editorial policies, the Editor and the Publisher have agreed to retract the article.

We have been informed in our decision-making by our editorial policies and the COPE guidelines.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as ‘Retracted’.
