Abstract

The milk of farm animals has played different parts in the history of human health and nutrition. At present, the fashion appears to be to cast cows' milk in the role of a villain, and to suggest that obesity rather than malnutrition is the more important problem ofchild health. This point of view, that milk might not be such an ideal part ofour diet has been expressed, for example, in an amusing article by Franks.1
