Paradoxical views of “homosexuality” in the rhetoric of social scientists: A fantasy theme analysis

Social scientists’ descriptions of same‐sex relationships are examined as persuasive messages. Two major recurring, but paradoxical, fantasies permeate the rhetoric of social scientists: (1) the “ ‘homosexual’ as degenerate,” and (2) “mainstrearning the ‘homosexual.’” The word gay and its referents are proposed as a substitute research base.
