Abstract
The first author to mention the occurrence of Athanas nitescens in Norway is G. O. Saks (1868, p. 92). He says (translated): “I have only seen this small crustacean in the Christiania- (now Oslo-) fjord, where it is not uncommon among the deeper-growing algae. The colour variation mentioned by Goes (vitta dorsali albida) is the more common. The first pair of legs in the male is much bigger than in the female, and the right foot is stronger than the left one.”
